There has been many scientific studies on the benefits of sensory deprivation and the calming environment it creates. We currently offer sessions in our dark dens with lighting and tactile toys which were kindly donated to us. By removing outside stimuli your body will often react by going into a highly relaxed state, helping you manage stress and anxiety.
It’s also a very good way to disconnect from the world and any issues you are currently facing. Although you shouldn’t bury your head from problems you face, it’s a good way to sit in silence and darkness and think about a solution. Some people also experience creative boosts whilst in the dark, with their brain often creating musical tunes or images that you can recreate as art.
