We were contacted by a man the other day who was in a very difficult position. He was from Bolton but someone had told him to contact The Horwich Hub. I have been speaking to him for the last few days on the phone and learnt his story. When he called us he was homeless living in a doorway but with our help he managed to get a place in a hostel and has now been offered a bedsit. He had a choice with grant voucher of food or white goods but he was told he couldn’t have both!
He was unaware that he wouldn’t get support with food if he was making every effort to improve his life. His payments weren’t backdated and what he was given he had to pay out. With help from The Horwich Hub we have now sorted it out for him to get a warm meal from Boltonshelping hands a few times a week, I have done a parcel with some food I had from my cupboards and some rice and noodles donated by one of our donators Billa. Billa Ahmed has also given this man £20 to help him out, extending his open hand and helping this vulnerable man.
